Sectigo® DV Single Site Information

The Sectigo® DV Single Site SSL Certificate protects a single domain through Domain Validation (DV). Because validation checks control of the domain and nothing more, no company documents are needed, and issuance completes within minutes of a successful check.

It is well matched to company websites, web applications, and blogs that want trusted encryption without delay. Securing www.example.com also brings in the root domain example.com at no extra cost.

This SSL Certificate performs server authentication and can secure a service on any port. Common uses include websites, webmail, e-mail servers running Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), Virtual Private Network (VPN) servers, remote desktop, and network appliances or routers.

More broadly, it works with any other server, software, or device that accepts an SSL Certificate to secure a connection from one point to another. For information about Client Authentication 🔗 please read about global regulated changes prior to purchase.

The sections below explain how the Sectigo® DV Single Site SSL Certificate is validated, what it includes, and how to put it in place.

Rapid Domain Validation

Domain Validation (DV) checks that you control the domain being secured, without any review of your business or supporting documents. The check is automated and normally finishes within minutes of your order.

You can complete it by e-mail, by publishing a Domain Name System (DNS) record, or by placing a file on your web server. Learn About Domain Validation 🔗

Encryption and Protocols

The SSL Certificate is built on a 2048-bit RSA key with 256-bit symmetric encryption, and it supports the Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 and 1.3 protocols. Visitors see the padlock icon and connect over HTTPS.

It also supports the encryption requirements of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and uses the SHA-256 hashing algorithm. Compare Encryption Algorithms 🔗

USD $500,000 Warranty

Each Sectigo® DV SSL Certificate carries a USD $500,000 Relying Party Warranty. The warranty offers financial cover in the unlikely event that the Certificate Authority (CA) issues the SSL Certificate in error.

You can also reissue the SSL Certificate as often as you need at no charge, for instance after changing your Private Key or moving servers. Discover Warranty Details 🔗

Trustico® Site Seal

Every order comes with a complimentary Trustico® site seal that you can place on your website to reassure visitors. Positioning it on checkout, sign-up, and contact pages shows encryption is active where it counts.

Adding the seal takes only a small piece of HTML. Explore the Trustico® Site Seal 🔗

Browser Compatibility

The SSL Certificate is trusted by around 99.9% of web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Mobile devices on iOS and Android trust it without any additional configuration.

This wide recognition means visitors reach your secure site without warnings. Understand Browser Compatibility 🔗

Root Domain Included Free

When you secure www.example.com, the root domain example.com is added automatically at no cost as a secured Subject Alternative Name (SAN). Entering the www version of your domain is therefore recommended, so the root is reliably covered.

Most root domains entered on their own include the www version free in the same way. Any free additional name must pass the same validation as the primary domain, and if it cannot be validated it may be left off the SSL Certificate.

When several separate names must be secured with certainty, such as the www and root together or any other mix, a Multi Domain product is the better fit. Each name is listed in full and the SSL Certificate is only issued once all are validated. Explore Multi Domain Options 🔗

Installation

Installation starts with a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). After validation, you deploy the issued SSL Certificate together with the supplied intermediate chain files. Platform guides cover Apache, Nginx, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), and other common web servers and control panels.

If you would rather leave it to someone else, the Premium Installation service can carry out the work for you. Access Installation Guides 🔗

Refund Policy and Price Promise

Each order is a license that unlocks once the Certificate Authority (CA) completes validation. If validation cannot be finished beforehand, the value of the order is held as Trustico® Prepaid Credit for use on another SSL Certificate, domain, or product.

After the SSL Certificate has been validated and issued, the license is active and refunds no longer apply. Anything outside this pre-validation protection is handled at the discretion of Trustico® through the refund request form. Review the No Risk Refund Policy 🔗

A price match against advertised prices from other providers is available before and after your order, so you are not left paying more than you should. Learn About The Trustico® Price Promise 🔗

Your SSL Certificate License

Your purchase is an SSL Certificate license for the term you select, such as one or two years. A multiple year license fixes the current pricing for the whole term you choose.

Because an individual SSL Certificate has a maximum validity set by industry rules, currently 200 days and subject to change, a longer license is kept current by reissuing the SSL Certificate during the term rather than issuing a single SSL Certificate for the full period.

Reissues are free and unlimited across the license, and each one gives the largest validity left on the term, so a reissue late in the license runs only to the end of it. Manage your reissues in the Trustico® Tracking System 🔗

Reissuing is not the same as buying a new license. A reissue replaces the SSL Certificate within the license you hold, while a new license is a separate paid order, best placed about two weeks before the current term ends to allow time to validate and install.

A notice is sent before the license period ends, though tracking the SSL Certificates installed on your own servers stays with you. You can read expiry dates from the server, use a monitoring service, or download calendar files for the license and SSL Certificate dates from the tracking system.

Suitable Uses

The Sectigo® DV Single Site SSL Certificate fits company sites, professional service providers, and online shops handling everyday transaction volumes that want a recognized name securing their domain. It is equally at home on blogs, informational sites, and web applications that need dependable encryption without a verified organization identity.

Wherever a single domain needs solid encryption and a trusted padlock rather than a displayed business identity, it is a practical choice. A site that must show a verified organization identity should look to a higher validation level.

Higher Validation Options

If your site takes payments, holds sensitive accounts, or handles higher-value transactions, a higher validation level adds a verified organization identity on top of the encryption. Compare Organization Validation 🔗

Extended Validation applies the most thorough identity checks available. Compare Extended Validation 🔗
